The 31st annual Schweppes Great Chowder Cook-Off is on the horizon, a sure sign that the 2012 summer season is fast approaching! The buzz is already growing for this acclaimed all-ages festival of all-you-can-eat chowder, so we've opened ticket sales early and at a clam-tastic discount: $10 off full-price admission if purchased by May 1st. Plus, these coveted tickets grant you automatic membership into the exclusive Chowdahead Club, for the hardcore, ultimate chowda fans who will enjoy a one-hour preview of the event from 11am-12pm to get a first-class first taste of all the 2012 chowder creations before the gates open at noon. The Nantucket Nectars Sunset Music Series is setting the stage for a summer of musical evenings on Newport's historic waterfront with a growing line-up of world-renowned musicians for the 2012 season. On Friday, June 29th, five-time Grammy award-winner and noted philanthropist Ziggy Marley makes a stop in Newport to kick off the 2012 Series as part of his tour for the Grammy-nominated Wild & Free album. And the reggae jams don't stop there... the freewheelin' vibes continue at the much-anticipated Newport Waterfront Reggae Festival later in the summer on Saturday, August 11th (stay tuned for some monumental lineup announcements), before we shift gears the following weekend-Friday, August 17th-when international favorite k.d. lang takes center stage with her sprightly new band, The Siss Boom Bang-a partnership lang has called "the pinnacle of [her] creative life."
