MarineMax Opens New Sales Office
MarineMax opened a new sales office on Bowen’s Wharf in the heart of Newport, RI. The office represents Azimut-Benetti and will serve as the home port of Azimut’s new Magellano line of long-distance cruising yachts. The new Magellano will be making its debut at the Boat Show. Look for the Newport For New Products red and blue balloons! Azimut Yachts is located on NYC Fuel Dock Basin.
Herreshoff Yacht Sales
Herreshoff Yacht Sales opened an office in Bristol, RI, on the campus that from 1878-1945 housed the historic Herreshoff Manufacturing Co., which built America’s Cup winners such as Columbia and Reliance. Herreshoff will be exhibiting at the Show on Dock M-10.
Local Team on Puma’s Mar Mostro wins Transatlantic Race
Puma’s Mar Mostro, skippered by Newport’s Ken Read, was second to cross the finish line of the Transatlantic Race 2011 and is the current leader based on corrected time. Mar Mostro completed the 2,975-nautical mile course from Newport to Lizard Point, South Cornwall, England, in 7 days, 11 hours and 40 minutes. The Puma Mar Mostro team is headquartered in Newport. The boat and crew will now head to its summer training camp in Lanzarote, Canary Islands, Spain. The boat was built in Portsmouth, RI at New England Boatworks, Inc. NEB will be participating in NIBS. Booth is located in Tent G #33.
Newport Non-Profit Partners with America’s Cup
The America’s Cup Event Authority has chosen Newport-based Sailors for the Sea as its first partner in a new international program intended to better preserve and protect the oceans of the world.
