Newport, RI, May, 2010…..As part of the reunion of the America’s Cup Twelve Metre Era being held at the New York Yacht Club in September, a panel of some of the most famous names in the race’s history will be speaking at the Newport International Boat Show in an open-to-the-public forum . Expected to attend the Reunion are Ted Turner, Buddy Melges, Bruno Bich, Halsey Herreshoff and Ted Hood to name a few. Gary Jobson, ESPN’s Yachting Commentator and a co-chair of the Reunion, will be the moderator.

 

The Forum will take place, beginning at 5 PM on Thursday, September 16th within the Boat Show around the E Lot area…see map on our web site.   Entrance is through the Boat Show’s Gate #3, which is located at the end of Commercial Wharf, just off America’s Cup Avenue. There is no cost to enter at this location to attend this forum.

 

The Reunion is being hosted by the New York Yacht Club and will be taking place simultaneously with the 12 Metre North American Championships being held in Newport that weekend, as well as the Herreshoff Marine Museum’s 17th America’s Cup Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, presented by Rolex Watch USA. The Legends Forum at the Newport Boat Show will be the only opportunity for the public to participate in this international “Return of the Legends” event.
