NEWPORT, RI, June 09, 2009 – The Newport Yachting Center is proud to announce that it has secured pop-rockers Collective Soul on Thursday, August 13th as the 9th confirmed headliner for this summer’s 12th Annual Nantucket Nectars Sunset Music Series. Tickets for the concert, which are priced at $40 for preferred seating and $30 for standard seating, are available for purchase at www.newportwaterfrontevents.com. The Newport Yachting Center employs the convenient ClicknPrint ticketing system, which offers the benefit of selecting your own seat and “at home” ticket printing. Those interested in tickets can also call the Newport Yachting Center Box Office at (401) 846-1600. The opening act for Collective Soul has yet to be determined but the smaller Festival Stage act will feature Dean Petrella.
Stockbridge, Georgia-based international recording artists, Collective Soul, have sold more than 10 million albums and have had nineteen singles landing in the Billboard charts, seven of those reaching the #1 spot. Breaking into mainstream popularity with its 1993 hit, “Shine” off the double-platinum, Hints, Allegations, and Things Left Unsaid, the band’s infectious anthems have cropped up in TV shows, movies, commercials, soundtracks, and, most importantly, in tireless rotation for those who crave expertly-crafted, hook-laden pop-rock with an edge.
“The addition of Collective Soul really rounds out our final concerts in August with Guster the week before and the Temptations the week after,” said Michele Maker Palmieri, General Manager of the Newport Yachting Center. “There weren’t many bands bigger than Collective Soul in the 90s and their music is still popular today on hugely successful television shows and movies, including American Idol, The Hills and Twilight.” The band’s eighth album, Rabbit, is set for release in August.
