Headline: Newport Spring Boat Show Targets Financial Help for Boaters
Body: Newport, RI, 2009…The financial concerns of boaters will be the subject of two special events at this year’s Newport Spring Boat Show that runs from May 15 – 17 in the water and around the docks of the Newport Yachting Center on America’s Cup Avenue.  A workshop on “Creative Ways to Afford a Boat” will be held on Saturday, May 16 and a Bargain Consignment Tent will be operating all weekend for boaters to buy everything they need – or sell the things they no longer need – to launch the boating season.
 
While a number of different seminars on fishing, boat maintenance and other subjects will be held during the Show, a special workshop-style seminar will be held on Saturday to help new and used boat buyers figure out how to get their financing done in today’s unique financial market.  Representatives from a bank and a finance company, as well as a marine-specialist insurance agent, will be on hand to discuss the present loan environment plus financing-based insurance requirements and help buyers go about the process successfully.  Following general presentations, appointments can be set-up to speak privately, one-on-one, with the experts to cover specific details about an individual’s boat buying plans and develop a funding strategy.  The presentation will take place on Saturday, May 16 at 1 P.M., with individual appointments available from 2 – 4 PM.

Also, to get more money in their pockets – or to save money on a purchase from the wide selection of equipment and accessories that boaters need to start the boating season – the Spring Boat Show will be running a Bargain Consignment Tent during all three days of the Show at which manufacturers, dealers and individuals will be selling new and used boating items at bargain prices…with partial proceeds benefiting the Seaman’s Institute! You do not need to be an exhibitor to sell a product.  Just tag it with a non-negotiable price plus your name/company name and drop it off at the Newport Yachting Center starting Monday, May 11th through Thursday May 14th between the hours of 9 AM and 5 PM.  The Show will provide a staff to handle the sales during all Show hours on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.  If the consignment item sells, the owner will receive 60% of the dollar amount and the balance, after selling costs, will go to the Seaman’s Institute. All unsold items may be picked up on Sunday, May 17th at 5PM or Monday between 8AM and 5PM.  Any unclaimed item will be donated to a worthy cause.
